True to his word I did hear from him the next day. “Traps are sprung.” He said, dramatically. “The fee is one hundred dollars.”

I shivered, sure I didn’t want to hear more. “Okay, let me send you a check.”

“Is it possible for us to meet at the house? I have something I want to show you.”

Was this normal etiquette for an exterminator to want to meet to collect their fee? I wasn’t sure.

“What time?” I asked thoughtfully.

“How about in an hour? I can reset them again.”

“For another hundred dollars?” What a racket! Maybe I was in the wrong business.

“Let’s discuss the fee when you get here. I think this is going to be worth your time.”

With slight trepidation, I agreed and hung up.

When I met him he had a big grin on his face. “I think this is going to be worth your time.”

“Oh yeah? Why?”

“You’ll see. I think you’ll be very surprised. In fact, I promise that.”
